Proportional Representation would remove yet more power from the government

First past the post is good for people who like dysfunctional and adversarial politics. It creates confusion (a false sense of support for the leading parties) and keeps reality and the truth from being revealed.

  1. Proportional representation does not create weak Government. It creates strong Opposition. It's not the same thing.

The Government is actually stronger because it has a legitimate mandate from a majority of the voters, while being accountable to Parliament.

  2. We agree...

The title given to this blogpost was a little unclear and ambiguous in meaning for which I apologise. The reason I used the phrase ‘...remove yet more power from the government’ was that the power goes (would go) to the people instead of the government... which of course is what it is intended to do.

I realise naturally that government and the people are not always in conflict especially so under proportional representation.

    Thank you for commenting.
